Lunch at my house with a friend dear to us both: fresh baked pumpkin creamed then sauteed in a splash of virgin olive oil with a bit of red onion, a dash of salt and pepper, a secret ingredient, and over the steaming pasta it went. Speck. Yoghurt and apples. Nespresso.
Chatting, tea, then a chilly, but invigorating and delightful walk up Corso di Porta Ticinese toward the outward facing façade of Porta Ticinese in Piazza XXIV Maggio....More......
And Christmas lights on the Grand Canal

Beautiful! I have a friend here from Milano, now I know why she's homesick around this time of year. :)
Typically measly, compared to U.S. standards, the Xmas decorations in Rome and Milan, the two cities with which I am more familiar, are even worse in Milan, this year. Some "bright bulb" got the idea to make "innovative," rather than traditional lighting (considering that Xmas is one of THE periods of tradition, I say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it, but they didn't ask me), which, in and of itself, could be fun, such as the colored lights sunk just under the surface of the water in the Grand Canal (one of the few remaining open...Milan was criss-crossed with canals from medieval times up to another "bright bulb" idea to cover them over to favor the sale and use of cars and tires). What a grump I am! I'm trying not to be, though, so here is the truly joyful and kitschy shot of the Grand Canal, Xmas-y, or not. So glad you enjoyed the pictures! Thanks for stopping by and for commenting! I hope you come, again, soon. Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year!
